Scope: The Pewitt CISD Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit tax-exempt philanthropic organization of citizens, shares a vision of enhancing education in Pewitt CISD, works to increase private support for educational activities in Pewitt CISD, benefits Pewitt CISD students and staff personnel by supporting activities not funded by tax dollars, fosters creative approaches to education through private grants and involvement, awards Foundation funds through a volunteer Board of Directors made up of business, community and educational leaders.

The Pewitt CISD Education Foundation has been created to support the educational programs for both the students and staff personnel of the Pewitt Consolidated Independent School District.  The Foundation will provide funds for educational programs and activities which either have not been funded or have been under-funded by the normal operating budget.  These funds will be used to facilitate student achievement and skill development, to recognize and encourage staff excellence and to expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations.

The mission of the Pewitt CISD Education Foundation is to generate and distribute resources to the Pewitt Independent School District to enrich, maintain, and expand programs needed to meet the District's stated mission of excellence in education.

The Foundation will achieve its mission by directing resources toward the following goals: Encourage all students to work to their highest potential, Support staff for innovative efforts, Recognize staff for exemplary teaching. Build community awareness for the Pewitt CISD Education Foundation, Inspire parents and community to participate with the school district in enriching education

An operating endowment fund has been established and is functioning for the students of the Paul H. Pewitt Consolidated School District. The fund is incorporated and registered with the Secretary of State at Austin. Articles of the incorporation have been approved; directors and officers have been elected; by-laws approved and an investment policy established. Detailed information is available at the administration office of Pewitt C.I.S.D. This endowment fund has been patterned from a similar one in use by the University of Texas at Austin.

We are hopeful that the present and past residents of the Pewitt C.I.S.D., and the current and future alumni will support his fund to better benefit the educational needs of present and future students. Earnings on investments will be distributed to aid in education of grades K through 12 as thoughtfully indicated by the counselors and principals of the respective campuses with board approval. Other earnings will be available for scholarships at graduation time. All funds distributed will be limited to education and scholarships. Athletics and other extra curricular activities are excluded.

Donations are income tax deductible as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, according to Kerry Wooten, Attorney, Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Contributions can be made to Pewitt C.I.S.D. Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 1106, Omaha, Texas 75571-1106. For the donors' convenience, arrangements have been made with Naples and Omaha banks for monthly withdrawals from contributors' accounts to the Pewitt C.I.S.D. Endowment Fund.

This will be an opportunity for Pewitt Classes, which meet for reunions, to make a gift which will benefit many students in their educational endeavors at Pewitt School. Memorial and honorarium donor gifts will be gladly accepted, acknowledged and appreciated. By helping the endowment fund, many will reap the rewards.
